Description of workshop: Explanation and handouts of the different gourds, tools & paints, inks etc. Video & Demo of cutting & cleaning a gourd. Demo of simple woodburning techniques, dye application, measuring and adding a pine needle rim a couple of different stitches. Participants will do a simple design using these 3 techniques.
Instrucxtor will provide cleaned gourds in bowl or vase shapes, pine needles & other rim materials, waxed cord, alcohol ink dyes, metallic paints, applicators, 91% alcohol, ModPodge, 2 dremels with bits needed, practice shards, 2 woodburners, Brusho Paints, gloves.
Supplies Needed: pencil, eraser, apron or shirt to cover clothing, N-95 facemask, safety glasses or goggles for woodburning, large eye upholstery needle, small bead needle if you want to add beads. I will supply some beads. If you have alcohol inks, you can bring colors you want. Colorful ribbons or cord to use on your rim if desired. A good wood burner if you have one with a skew tip. (Not the cheaper Hobby Lobby kit kind – they don’t get hot enough).
We will break for an hour lunch each day.
