Join us for Mardi Gras on the Beach, a relaxing and creative acrylic paint party inspired by the tradition of Mardi Gras in Galveston and its people. In this guided, step-by-step class, participants will paint a trumpet player set against the famous Pier Pleasure on the beach background. No prior painting experience is required—this class is designed for all skill levels.
The session will last approximately two and a half hours. All materials are provided, including canvas, acrylic paints, and brushes. You will be guided through techniques such as blending, layering, and creating texture to bring your trumpet player to life, while enjoying a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere.
Lunch will be on your own, allowing you the flexibility to plan according to your preferences. Come ready to unwind, explore your creativity, and leave with a finished painting you will be proud to take home.

About the Instructor
Malu Garza is an educator and professional artist with over 20 years of experience working in acrylics, oils, and watercolor. She has exhibited her work with the Galveston Art League and in Austin, Texas. Malu hosts paint retreats, paint parties, worship and bachelorette events, as well as both public and private creative experiences. She also teaches private art lessons and proudly volunteers her art classes at Parker Williams Library in Houston, Texas, where she is committed to making art accessible to the community.
Student Cancellation Policy
All fees must be paid in full before your registration is complete. Fees are non-refundable unless the workshop is cancelled by the Galveston Art League (GAL). If GAL cancels for any reason, you have the option of applying fees to another workshop or receiving a full refund. If you must cancel and you notify GAL at least seven (7) days prior to the workshop, you will receive a credit voucher for the full amount of your payment that can be applied to another GAL workshop within 12 months. If you do not attend or if cancellation is received less than seven (7) days prior to workshop, fees will not be refunded.
