Event Type

Create a house out of a gourd with a gourd seed roof at the Galveston Art League on October 16th. Your house will be the ideal size for a fall display, a holiday decoration, or a fairy garden project. Eleanor will provide gourds and seeds to complete your project. This is a fun project to design and complete. Time should allow everyone to leave with a finished gourd house.

If you want to look for tiny objects to make a diorama (a scene with three-dimensional figures), dollar stores have accessories you can use.

Eleanore, a Texas City native, has been working with gourds for 20 years. She has taught gourd workshops for several years at the Texas Gourd Festival and participated in workshops at the Texas and Arizona Gourd Festivals for over 15 years.

Creating characters for all seasons is Eleanore’s favorite gourd passion, but she also enjoys carving gourds and putting scenes inside of them.

Supplies to bring with you:

  • Glue gun and glue sticks
  • E6000 glue
  • 1” and a ¼” or small paint brush for details

Items supplied by the instructor:

  • Gourds
  • Seeds to create roof
  • Acrylic paint
