“Sun-drenched coastal & western paintings, made to bring a dose of dopamine into your space.”
Sara Nygard’s current works breathe life into summer snapshots. Crowded piers, beach umbrellas and vintage cars invite the viewer into a whimsical, uplifting world of collective memory and celebration. Loose brushwork and a signature palette of expressive pink and turquoise give her paintings a sense of warmth and motion, as though each one is a memory rather than a photograph—familiar, a little sun-bleached, and full of life.
Born in Finland, Nygard earned her degrees in fine art and business as well as a career in home furnishing before relocating to Texas, where she returned to painting in 2020. Her home studio is in League City. She exhibits regularly in Galveston at both the Art League and Pearl galleries. She has also exhibited in Texas at the 2025 Marfa Invitational Open and in South Carolina and Montana.
Sara works mainly with acrylics, alongside oils, spray paint, and vibrant small watercolors. She welcomes commissions across a wide range, from single portraits to large-scale pieces and can be reached at studionygard@yahoo.com and https://studionygard.com/.
