The Poppy is a popular, stunning flower worldwide, and a delight to paint. This workshop teaches a Sumi-e ink art or Chinese brush painting technique used to paint Poppies. In this workshop you’ll learn the simple brush techniques demonstrated by instructor. Students will have a 1-hour lunch break and will receive individual attention adapted to their skill level and interests.
Supplies Needed
The Instructor will share her brushes, Chinese Marie’s watercolor, rice paper, ink, with her students.
- Painting mats or felt:
material to place under your rice paper to prevent the excess moisture from forming a stain on the painting when working available at any fabric store.
- Two paper weights:
Stones, small books, or specially designed weights to help keep the rice paper flat and prevent it from curling while you work.
- A water container
- Pallets or 2-3 used dishes
- A roll of Paper towel

About the Instructor
Peihong graduated from Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1993. From 1990-1999 She served as an art editor for the Beijing Review, a national weekly magazine. Her artwork has been exhibited internationally in China, South Korea, Singapore, and Tokyo, as well as stateside in California and throughout Texas. Her artwork has also been included in several group exhibitions, art books, prestigious collections. Peihong painting titled Fragrant Moonlit was presented by the Chinese government to the French government. Peihong moved to United States in 1999. Since 2002, She Taught Various Classes and Workshops of Chinese ink art at Museum Fine Arts of Houston, Glassell School, The Jung Center, Watercolor Art Society of Houston, West University Rec. Center, Houston Arboretum Nature Center, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Rice University, Asian Society Texas Center.

All fees must be paid in full before your registration is complete. Fees are non-refundable unless the workshop is cancelled by the Galveston Art League (GAL). If GAL cancels for any reason, you have the option of applying fees to another workshop or receiving a full refund. If you must cancel and you notify GAL at least seven (7) days prior to the workshop, you will receive a credit voucher for the full amount of your payment that can be applied to another GAL
